Serving those in need

MISSIONARY WORK IN EASTERN UKRAINE. WAR AND POST-WAR HUMANITARIAN RELIEF FOR UKRAINIAN PEOPLE.

About “Mission Voice and Hands of a Friend”

In 2011, a WA state 501C3 non-profit organization, Mission VHF, partnered with Pastor-missionary Igor Tunik, who led two home churches in the Donetsk region of Eastern Ukraine. That year, a Drug and Alcohol Rehab Center was established in Ukraine with the help of Mission VHF volunteers.

In 2016, the efforts multiplied. The ministry grew to six churches, one rehab center, six YoungLife-type Centers, six Children’s Centers, and one Senior Outreach ministry. In early 2021-2022, Mission VHF was already able to offer monthly financial support to 22 missionaries and their families. Plans were made to continue growing the ministry by starting an additional Drug and Alcohol Rehab Center and an additional church.

Unfortunately, the full-scale war in Ukraine that started on February 24th, 2022, changed the plans of every single Ukrainian, as well as each missionary in Ukraine. Some families with small children were forced to move to the safer parts of Ukraine and continue ministry there. Mission VHF made all efforts to feed, evacuate, treat medically, and support Ukrainians through the work of the missionary team, who remained to serve. Most importantly, the Gospel was spread with each effort.

Additionally, Mission VHF is continuing its local work with the homeless and those in need.  The future goals include an expansion of non-profit work in Wenatchee, WA.

Testimonials

Here are several stories from people we helped ...

Thank you for not only helping us find a place to live after we evacuated but also becoming a family for us in this new city for us.

Dima, Lyuba, and kids (Refugees from the war)

Thank you for helping me financially when I needed surgery in the midst of war. This was more than I could have dreamed of. But, emotional and spiritual support was even more precious.

Natasha (Village of Shevchenko, Ukraine)

Thank you for sending your team to our city. We get bombed every day. We do not always have access to food or water. Your missionaries are making a difference in our lives.

Luba and family (Avdiivka, Ukraine)

Thank you for sending a doctor to take care of our health. We are refugees from a destroyed city in Ukraine. We lost everything we owned and do not have access to our children and grandchildren who are living in the occupied territory of Ukraine. Your church became family.

Aleksandr and Tatyana (Avdiivka, Ukraine)

Spiritual support

Helping people with their needs due to the war is not the end goal. We want to share the Gospel with the people we can help and provide a church family for them.

Over 4,000 people have heard the Gospel in Ukraine since we began our work in 2011.

Emotional support

We encounter a need for emotional/psychological support now, more than we ever have. We see children, youth, mothers, fathers, and grandparents in need of support.

Hundreds of people attend our churches weekly for emotional/psychological support and to get their other needs met.
